A fire erupted in a high-rise residential tower located in Dubai Sports City on Monday morning. The report was received by Dubai Civil Defence at 4.06am, prompting the swift dispatch of emergency services to the building. Arriving at 4.12am, personnel from Al Barsha Fire Station promptly attended to the situation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident.
According to Tijana Markowbic, a resident of the building from Serbia, they were compelled to vacate the premises at around 4am. Initially assuming it to be a false alarm, they soon detected the unmistakable scent of fire. Although remaining calm, fear gripped them as uncertainty lingered regarding their next destination. Authorities communicated that they would have to wait for an estimated duration of three to four hours.
Subsequently, additional assistance was requested from the Dubai Investments Park Fire Station and Jebel Ali Fire Station. Firefighters efficiently evacuated residents to safety while combating the blaze, which was characterized as "moderate" in intensity. Sadia Jawad, another resident from Pakistan, recounted witnessing the flames reflected on the windows of a neighboring tower, confirming the urgency of the situation. Joined by other building occupants, they gathered their valuable belongings and swiftly descended the premises.
Transportation was provided by the Roads and Transport Authority, utilizing an air-conditioned bus. The incident field commander reported that by 5.23am, the fire was brought under control, and by 6.38am, it was completely extinguished. At present, the focus has shifted towards cooling operations.
